Abstract: National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) aims to provide sustainable livelihoods to the poverty stricken populations by focusing on the rural women. This study revolves around the empirical effects that Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission which is a state implementing agency started System Rice Intensification (SRI) technique as a pilot project. As a commonly known fact, in agriculture participation of women folks is higher compared to their male counterparts, hence to study their contribution was felt to be more important. As a matter of concern, ST and OBC community women were especially emphasized who had formed themselves into SHGs and were practicing SRI cultivation. SRI is a method of cultivation and is being actively promoted by the government due to its lower input costs and enhanced productivity, which means enhanced income for the women. Adoption of SRI cultivation practices in the yield it will change the mix and allocation of inputs, in particular of water, seeds, fertilizer, and labor. This study was carried out in Palghar district and 20 SHGs were interacted. Thus this study will throw some light on whether MSRLM has been able to achieve its benchmarks using SRI technique or not, and whether lives of poor women has changed or not...
