Abstract: Entrepreneurship has been recognized as an important source of economic growth as it creates new jobs for an entrepreneurs and others and also provide society with different solutions to management, organization an d business. Women’s entrepreneurship contributes to the economic well - being of the family and communities and also reduces poverty. The growth of Self - Help Groups (SHGs) is an evidence of the fact that women are coming out of their shells and maintaining t heir citizenship in the city. This study is carried out with the specific objective to know the entrepreneurial activities undertaken by women with the help of loan provided by SHGs, understanding how SHGs is helping in developing women as an entrepreneur, skills and earning capacity. Keeping this in mind the researcher made a study on entrepreneurship and small business with reference to Women SHGs in Gaya district, Bihar. Research data have been collected through structured interview schedule, secondary d ata have also been taken from official websites, journals, magazines and articles. Methods such as focus group discussions among SHG members, discussions were also held between Ajeevika staffs and employees for entrepreneurial activities. The analysis clea rly shows that the role of women entrepreneurs’ contribution to the society is commendable.
