|Abstract:||The purpose of this research is to investigate the role of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and Organizational Trust on the relationship between Perceptions of Organizational Politics (POP) and certain desirable job attitudes , and to reinforce the belief of politics leading to negative job attitudes in an Indian c ontext. A random sample of white collar working professionals working in various functions across sectors in India was taken for the study . Data was collected by administering questionnaires (one each for POP, POS, Organizational Trust, Organizational Comm itment and Job Involvement) through the electronic media to the sample for a duration of 3 months. A total of 107 responses were obtained. Findings suggested that POS and Organizational Trust partially mediates the negative relationship between POP and job attitudes (Organizational Commitment and Job Involvement). The mediation effect was moderate to high for Organizational Commitme nt and low for Job Involvement. J ob Involvement was not found to moderate the relation ship between POP and Organizational Commi tment. Positive and significant relationships were reported between each POS and Organizational Trust, and job attitudes (Organizational Commitment and Job Involvement) . The study reinforced the negative effects of politics on job attitudes and perceptions . It also suggested that potentially negative effects of politics can be controlled and reduced when trust and support dominate the intra - organizational climate. The results suggest that trust and support are two very important for employees to cope with p olitics in an organizational context. Policy implications, limitations and scope for future research are also discussed.|
