Abstract: The State Government of Maharashtra launched Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Aarogya Yojana (RGJAY) to improve medical access facility to both below Poverty line and above poverty line people in July 2012. In the first year, the scheme has been launched in eight districts of Maharashtra including Gadchiroli district. The scheme would be expanded to entire Maharashtra in a phased manner in three years. Various evaluation studies have been carried out of other publicly financed schemes like RSBY, Rajiv Aarogysri, Kalaignar Yojana etc. The studies have attempted to explore various aspects like aware ness, enrolment , utilization and financial risk protection. RGJAY scheme is in 2 nd phase in Gadchiroli district but it recorded lowest utilization rate in Maharashtra. Therefore this study attempts to explore the level of awareness about the scheme and uti lization of RGJAY scheme in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.
