Abstract: This study will focus on various types of cyber crimes that have begun to affect our everyday lives. Also, what are the measures that have been taken by the state to ensure security on the web . The researcher being a part of the criminology fraternity feels responsible to voice the social need to stress the necessity of the regulatory mechanism for the cyber space. Since the understanding of a global problem like cyber crime requires a perspective as wide and global as possible, this study will cross through several historical, ultural and institutional context to highlight the interlinkages wherever they exist, within the limits of my experience and knowledge. This study will thus address four important questions: What is cyber crime? What are their causes? How can it be controlled? How to prevent them?
