Abstract: appraise the factors influencing chronic absenteeism. to suggest suitable remedies to the management as how to reduce the curse of chronic absenteeism. All the respondents were male workers. Chronic absentees belong to the middle-age group, since the majority of workers are between 20-40 years. Vast .majority of workers are married. There were no divorces or widowers in the sample. More than half the number of respondents are either unskilled or semiskilled. Only a few are skilled. More than 3/4 of the respondents are non-matriculates. No housing provided. Respondents spend much time and energy in traveling. Salary is comparatively low, maximum being Rs.450/-p.m. Heavy indebtedness due to the fact of low salary, and high cost of living, and large families.
