|Abstract:||The Swacha Bharat Abhiyan initiative of Government of India included the public area hospitals in for overall cleanliness drive under the Kayakalp Programme since 2015. Kayakalp is being used as one of the tool by the Public Hospitals to ensure and enhance Quality of Services as well as of the professional staff rendering these services. The design of Kayakalp Programme is such that it ensures also the development and growth and satisfaction of its employees thereby enabling retention and stability to the organization. This study attempts to understand the impact of Kayakalp Programme in last two years in Public Hospitals which opted to be evaluated under Kayakalp programme. In other words the study assesses the competency levels of concerned staff of select public hospitals that succeeded to bag the award and the hospitals which failed to do so, through the lens of standards, measuring elements and check points developed under the Kayakalp programme. The results were then analyzed making a 3X3 contingency table and applying Chi square statistical technique to observe that if there is a significant enhancement in the competencies and skills of the staff of hospitals, that were evaluated through standards and verification means of Kayakalp evaluation methods. The study revealed that district Hospital Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand had shown a positive impact on the skills and competencies of service providers/staff of the hospital after implementation of the Kayakalp Program and that these are also statistically significant.|
